FAQ #54 – What are The BEST CREDIT CARDS for Ecuador?
The best credit cards for Ecuador are those that don’t charge an international transaction fee, such as Capital One, Discover, Chase Sapphire, and others.
Visa, Mastercard and Discover work at most places in Ecuador. However, leave your AMEX card at home because most places don’t accept it due to the high merchant fees and unforgiving chargeback policies.
Ecuadorian banks (bancos) such as Banco Guayaquil, Banco del Pacífico, Banco Pichincha, Banco del Austro, etc. will accept most ATM cards from foreign banks, but most credit unions (cooperativas) such as JEP, won’t.
