FAQ #9 – What About RURAL HEALTHCARE In Ecuador?
Rural healthcare in Ecuador is best suited for emergencies like broken bones or stitches so it will suffice for most young and/or healthy expats. However, it’s not ideal for people with more serious medical conditions or chronic health issues like heart disease, cancer or advanced diabetes.
If you’re struggling with a chronic health condition, we do not recommend living in the rural areas of Ecuador because highly trained doctors and major hospitals are located too far away. Cuenca, Quito, Guayaquil and Manta are much better choices for high quality healthcare in Ecuador.
