FAQ #42 – What About WINE In Ecuador?
Availability of wine in Ecuador has increased considerably over the past several years. We don’t often see wine from the United States, but wine from Argentina, Chile, Portugal, Spain, France and Italy are very common.
While Ecuador does produce some of its own wine, the climate is not ideal for growing grapes so they tend to be sweeter with less complexity and depth of flavor.
You can expect to pay about the same price for imported wine from South America and Europe as you would pay for those in the United States. There are a lot of nice options in the $8 to $15 per bottle range, but you can also find much more expensive vintages, as well.
